A dual charge pump generates the RS-232 line levels from a single 3.0V to 5.5V supply, needing only 0.1µF capacitors. Every RS-232 input and output is protected to ±15kV Human Body Model ESD, so the serial connector survives real-world static without external protection. Receivers include a 5kΩ input pulldown and translate RS-232 to TTL/CMOS.
