The MAX3232ECUE+T from Maxim Integrated (Analog Devices) is the TSSOP version of the ±15kV ESD-protected MAX3232E RS-232 transceiver - two drivers, two receivers, +3V to +5.5V, with the slim 16-pin TSSOP body for height- and space-constrained boards. A dual charge pump and 0.1µF capacitors deliver true RS-232 from 3.3V, with ±15kV ESD on the I/O.

Product Introduction

The MAX3232ECUE+T is the slim-TSSOP grade of Maxim's ±15kV ESD-protected MAX3232E RS-232 transceiver (MAX3222E-MAX3241E family). It delivers two drivers and two receivers from a +3V to +5.5V supply, with the same electrical performance as the SSOP MAX3232ECAE but in the lower-profile 16-pin TSSOP outline preferred for thin and dense assemblies.

A dual charge pump makes the RS-232 line levels from 3.3V using only 0.1µF capacitors, and every RS-232 input/output is hardened to ±15kV Human Body Model ESD. The receivers carry a 5kΩ input pulldown and translate RS-232 to TTL/CMOS.

Sharing the universal MAX3232E pinout, the TSSOP MAX3232ECUE drops into any MAX3232E layout where the thinner TSSOP package is needed - notebooks, hand-held terminals and compact peripherals whose serial connector is exposed to ESD.
